The Renowned Musician Calls On Support to Get Together for Palestine Track to UK Festive Top Spot.
A charity drive is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort aims to provide aid to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.
A Chance for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to support Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be incredible if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely let down if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”
Defiant Message of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.
“It occupies a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than spend my life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Featured Artists
The song was recorded after a solidarity show held in the autumn. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the piece was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.
The impressive roster of artists featured on Lullaby encompasses a group of acclaimed names from the scene. All participated in the benefit event, which reportedly raised a significant sum for charitable causes.
Production and Release
Lullaby was crafted by a trio of producers and composers. The track blends a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.
The group managing the initiative have clarified that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These resources will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.
“We haven't set a specific target,” a figure explained. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the territory was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of buildings described as levelled or seriously harmed.
“In that context, a handful of millions doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think the significant factor is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a digital service from the 19th of December.
