How the Broncos together with their flexible quarterback can halt that Chiefs' rule.

Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Real-time updates includes live text for Sunday's games on various channels, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, radio commentary is available through select stations for another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).
We're in the sixth week of the football calendar , after last week's talk about two top teams being a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both lost their unbeaten records.
Striking during those contests was the number of penalties both conceded. The Eagles committed them in key moments so they essentially beat themselves after leading 17-3 going into the final quarter against Denver, who play overseas this weekend.
But it proved good to observe how Denver quarterback the rookie managed to overcome that deficit and then lead three successful possessions in three attempts during the final period, to win the game by four points.
Denver boast the defensive player of the year in CB their star corner. They rank number one in goal-line defense, while the Eagles are number one in red zone offence, and Denver won that contest.
They executed the Eagles' number in terms of simulated pressure. They did not necessarily sending extra pass rushers instead they might position two LBs in the 'A' gap before withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel from the outside.
Early on of the season, it was noted during a show how Denver could be the current year's surprise contenders. They ended last season strongly then did a good job in continuing that momentum.
Could Denver be this year's dark horses?
Recently acquired TE Evan Engram has stepped up significantly and recent RB their rusher is a player they believe in. He now ranks 5th league-wide in ground gains (over 400) and tied for fourth in rushing scores (four).
I love how head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUSH!" at the top on his call sheet.
That shows how Denver represent a team that wants to run first, since one can achieve much off the back of that. It slows opposing rushes and maintains in favourable situations.
It's also benefited QB the young passer, who came into the league as the 12th overall draft pick last year, passing for 29 touchdown passes – just behind a star QB for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).
Josh Allen and Herbert have the arm strength to pass anywhere, but they lack in the same way as Nix. He has exceptional passing ability, a unique trait, and he is so athletic.
His strengths are his movement, the capacity to pass on the run, and finding different arm angles to make the pass as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He is able to throw that layered pass across the middle or past defenders.
As a rookie QB, at 25, he's got a lot of poise in the pocket and isn't bothered by the blitz. He tries to avoid being tackled as much as possible and is able pass under pressure. He has sharp intelligence and is quick to decide.
If you constantly rush it eats up the clock and forces the opponent to stay on the field for longer, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defence must cover the field vertically side to side. This proves exhausting.
The quarterback has pushed back with the coach on the sideline at times and I think the coach likes that attitude, that he's a fierce rival. I think it's fun for the coach to have a rookie QB that is kind of like moldable clay. He can really build something up how he wants to build it. I believe it's a special experience for the coach.
Payton has won a championship and now surpassed a legend in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen it all. In my opinion the success Denver are having offensively is largely down to his leadership, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the combination with the QB helps shape him what he is.
You wouldn't want a more qualified person guiding you, to help you through some of the tougher situations and build confidence.
I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. But is the team strong enough to face an elite team at full strength? Because that wasn't championship-level play from Philadelphia last Sunday.
Currently, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're working better than most, which is a good place to hold their division. The key to do is maintain this trajectory.
They're really good at leaning into their strength, that is the ground game, and this is exactly what they should do versus the Jets in London. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.
New York have surrendered 140 yards on the ground per game (among the worst), five ground scores so far (10th worst), and they are the sole squad yet to win any game.
Ever since the NFL began tracking takeaways in 1933, this team are the inaugural squad to be without any turnovers through five games, this is surprising considering that their new coach was previously a defensive coach with another team.
The Chiefs' QB says the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' after Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.
After the upcoming matchup, Denver have a manageable slate up to their bye (in week 12) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans and Las Vegas Raiders before the Chiefs.
In the AFC West, Kansas City are 2-3 while Denver are even with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could make a run for the top of the division.
It depends on what version Kansas City shows up they meet since Denver {beat|def
