Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Officers state they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Officers then discovered many other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report initial examinations indicate the liquid was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; investigators are presently not informed of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.
Local authorities said they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the public for tips.
A senior representative commented the attack rendered him without words and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he wrote on online, recalling the killing of nine victims by a assailant focusing on residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
