Arne Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Has The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's natural for concerns to be raised about his future after a further heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in 12 games, marking the team's poorest run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got significant backing from above,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to turn it around and get a victory of course but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal discussions I perceive the trust. However I've not talked to them after this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Familiar Problems and Player Reaction

Slot expressed regret over known weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a phase like this with outcomes like these.”

He concluded, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And until it is gone, we’re always going to compete.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to the top, show everyone again the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
